Diani
Diani is on the Kenyan coast, south of Mombasa. It is one long, soft beach behind a reef, so the water is calm. Choose it if you want simple, quiet days and an easy hop from the Maasai Mara or Tsavo.
Zanzibar
Zanzibar is an island off Tanzania with a storied old town, spice farms and beaches in every direction. Choose it if you want a bit of culture and exploring with your sunbathing.
Tides
Both have big tides. At low water the sea pulls back a long way, which is perfect for walking and rock-pooling.
